18 June 2013 - 9:38 am Are you an idealist?

I am idealist. I have always been one and I’ve only just realised what implications this has had on my actions and experiences so far.

I hear this very often: ‘It’s better not to have any expectations, so that you are not let down‘. How come?

Humans are genetically programmed to have expectations. Continue reading “Are you an idealist?” »

9 June 2013 - 10:12 am Goodbye USE

5 June 2013 - 10:08 am Buna Dimineata!

I love mornings. I love the smell of coffee and butter on toast. I love stretching my lazy body and starting a new day. Some days I may not achieve as much as I wanted, some days I may even surprise myself, fact is there is nothing not to love about mornings because they bring the prospect of ‘new’ or ‘another chance’. Or maybe one wouldn’t love mornings when less than 5 hours passed since they went to bed… Continue reading “Buna Dimineata!” »

2 June 2013 - 10:02 am Being an Ambassador

I have recently been involved in one of the most interesting projects conducted by my university which focuses on the valuable contribution international students have to the economy and life of Sheffield city.

On the 4th of March, a very valuable piece of research was presented to MPs in Westminster to show the £120 million benefit that international students bring to the Sheffield economy (Oxford Economics Report – The Economic Costs and Benefots of International Students). 23 May 2013 - 3:06 pm 1 Dress, 365 Days

365 Day Challenge

I was recently browsing through a 150 list of things to do when you are bored. In all fairness, I was more curious than I was bored. Scrolling down, I realised there are so many things I want to do: from learning the art of calligraphy and creating my own comic book to microwaving peanut butter s’mores or making rainbow jellies. Among these random, yet very exciting things, I found one that particularly caught my eye.

Start an ongoing project — take a photo of something (yourself maybe?) everyday for a year or do something like the Uniform Project to raise money for a charity.

Here I was just one click away from finding out about one of the most amazing and inspiring projects ever. Continue reading “1 Dress, 365 Days” »

The event joined 11 national societies to compete to be crowned the best performance of the night. It was a unique chance to showcase culture through art, music and drama, exhibiting a dazzling and colourful entertainment. Continue reading “Culture Shower” »

17 May 2013 - 10:25 am No more excuses

I seem to hear more and more people around me saying that ‘If only they had x, y, x they’d do amazing things‘. It seems that an increasing number of more people nowadays either lack a creative spirit to explore their passions or the resources to make their ideas happen. But what if there was an organisation to help you find a free venue or space for whatever activity or event you had in mind? Continue reading “No more excuses” »

7 May 2013 - 9:03 am My blogging world

I have just received a WordPress notification to celebrate a year since I first opened my blog:

You’d expect I’d say that time flew by, but I don’t have this feeling at all. I feel that I have lived every single day of my last year and that my blog has had a great input to that. By writing about certain experiences, by taking the time to update this electronic diary of feelings and impressions, I somehow enhanced the moment and seized the opportunity even more. Continue reading “My blogging world” »
