10 February 2017 - 9:19 am Making Music Work
There’s much more to being a professional musician than performing, but it’s often the stuff people don’t teach you. Ever wanted to learn about other jobs in the arts industry? As a USE Intern, I will be conducting a series of sessions on February 28th open to anyone interested in pursuing a career in the arts industry, specifically as a self-employed career.
23 December 2016 - 12:43 pm Intern Year of 2016
Well the year is almost done, so here’s a little recap of the busy interns!
The year started out a little quieter in January, but quickly came up to speed when the semester began. We have many daily/ weekly tasks to undertake, such as keeping the zone tidy, and reception duties at the front desk. We also must ensure the co-workers using the space are swiped in, and managing their mail.
12 December 2016 - 11:17 am A year as an Intern
So it’s been a while since I’ve written a blog; partly because we’ve been off over the summer, and partly because I’ve been so busy working on several projects! Some have already happened, and some are still in the pipelines- watch this space for more news.
Now that I’ve been an intern for almost a year now, I thought I’d write a blog about what I’ve actually been doing, other than ‘sitting at the front desk.’ The shifts range from rather quiet, to really hectic, and can even have you running all over town.

As part of our enterprising world series, we have been exploring the pathways and methods of establishing a business in various countries around the world. Below I will talk about some of the main steps to setting up and running a business in Australia.
11 February 2016 - 4:55 pm First month as an Intern!
So a few weeks before Christmas I went through the interview process and was offered the position of Enterprise Intern- the perfect Christmas present!
Coming back to the New Year I was very excited to be taking up the role, and it has been an interesting few weeks. For the most part, so far it has been admin work for USE, learning the ropes and happenings of the building, and amazing amount different things that USE does. As part of my own project to work on I am hoping to do some music teaching in schools in collaboration with another organisation, although this is still in the early stages of planning and details will be released at a later date.
My experience with enterprise goes back a few years to working in Australia as a music teacher and freelance musician. I have spent a couple of years teaching string instruments at my own private teaching studio, as part of after school music programmes, and in schools. I am also a performing musician, and have worked as a member of my own band and several other groups. We perform at major festivals, corporate functions and community events, all of which is a lot of fun!
So far I’m only a few weeks into the internship, but am thoroughly enjoying it! As Spring semester commences and my own project gets underway I am very much looking forwards to all that is to come.
