Skill Build is a series of workshops which can help you make your ideas happen. This semester, we are concentrating on developing your entrepreneurial skills, so regardless of your degree background; you will have knowledge of how the business world is operated. The course is centred on the Business Model Canvas (don’t worry if you don’t know what that is- we will cover it in our sessions) and will give you loads of advice on how to get a business idea off the ground

Skill Build is both HEARable and can be used for the Sheffield Graduate Award. In order to do this, you need to attend five out of seven sessions and pass an assignment.

Skill Build is a series of workshops which can help you make your ideas happen. This semester, we are concentrating on developing your entrepreneurial skills, so regardless of your degree background; you will have knowledge of how the business world is operated. The course is centred on the Business Model Canvas (don’t worry if you don’t know what that is- we will cover it in our sessions) and will give you loads of advice on how to get a business idea off the ground

Skill Build is both HEARable and can be used for the Sheffield Graduate Award. In order to do this, you need to attend five out of seven sessions and pass an assignment.

These sessions take place every Thursday between 6.15-7.30pm in the Diamond Lecture Theatre 1. For full details on each session, check out the event listings below:-

9th February- Welcome to Skill Build

In this session, we will talk you through what the next few weeks will involve, we will introduce you to the Business Model Canvas and show you how you can generate business ideas

16th February –Top 10 things to consider when starting a business

Today’s session will focus on the steps that you need to take in order to set up a business. It will cover all of basics such as how to come up with a good business name, how to register a business, and all of the considerations you need in order to make your business successful.

How do you successfully market a business? What are the best methods in the digital era? Today’s session will give you the marketing basics and hopefully inspire you with the more innovative methods of marketing.

How do you keep your business on the right side of the law? This session will discuss all of the financial implications that a business might have.
