Founder Brunch is BACK! After our summer hiatus, we’re back in the game with a schedule of awesome founders sharing their startup journeys and helping you avoid some of the pitfalls that they did along the way.

First up, we have Jerome Jacob from PHROOTI –  originally conceived as a tastier alternative to fruit tea, Jerome’s Lean Startup approach to business and taking on board customer feedback has seen him pivot PHROOTI several times. Universities Business Challenge- Selection Event

Want something that will make you stand out from the crowd? Need commercial awareness skills? Want to enhance your CV? The Universities Business Challenge Competition will allow you to develop your enterprise skills, ideal for when you graduate. This year, University of Sheffield Enterprise is entering five teams in the Universities Business Challenge. If you’re a dedicated undergraduate student and you want to be in one of those teams, you must come to this selection event first. Come and see if you have what it takes to be picked for a Universities Business Challenge team.

If you come to this event and are selected for one of the three teams, you will have to meet once a week for six weeks to complete a series of decisions based upon a fictitious business which you will be running. This competition is great for your employability as it will allow you to develop commercial awareness as well as connect with graduate employers to see what they are looking for in their graduate programme employees. The event is open to all University of Sheffield Undergraduates, from any discipline (not just business and management). Please note, you also must be avalaible for both semesters during 2017-18.

Skill Build-Enterprise Skills Autumn 2017-18

Looking to develop your skills? Want to become more employable? Want to meet new people? Skill Build is the ideal course for you. This semester, it will include sessions from USE, 301: Student Skills and Development Centre , The University Library, The Careers Service as well as a guest speaker from Sheffield Hallam University. Sessions take place every Thursday evening, 6.15-7.30pm in Lecture theatre 3, The Diamond.

This activity is HEARable and is recognised for the Sheffield Graduate Award. In order to complete Skill Build as a HEARable activity, you need to attend five of the sessions below and complete the assignment.

This week, we will introduce you to the Skill Build Course, what is enterprise as well as background information to the assignment

Team Formation – Thursday 26th October

Sometimes, it is impossible to do everything yourself in a project. This session will help you understand what your own strengths and weaknesses are and how having the right team can turn a project from a flop into a success. This is great for anyone who is currently doing a group project as part of their degree or extra-curricular activities.
