23 May 2018 - 10:20 am Being an enterprise intern – a year in review
This year, whenever I met someone knew, the conversations went like this:
Person A: So what do you do?
Me: Well, I’m doing a full time Masters, but I also have three part time jobs.
Person A: Oh my, three jobs?
Me: Yes, but I don’t work a lot of hours overall. I still have time to study and to occasionally go to the cinema and theatre.
Person A: So what are the jobs?
Me: Well I work as an ambassador, I work in a coffee shop and I also work as an Enterprise Intern.
Person A: What’s that? The intern thing, I mean.
And this would be the moment when I would have to take a deep breath because this job is not a one-sentence description type of job. Even though I could technically describe it through one sentence: developing and supporting projects. But what does that sentence mean exactly?
23 June 2015 - 11:26 am End of an era…..or maybe just for a year!
Hi all! Sorry if you haven’t heard from me in a while. So, today is my last shift at USE. It’s been a year!! It doesn’t seem too long ago when I joined in September last year. This place seems the same, but I feel a lot more comfortable now than I did in September.
Although it all seems the same, everything has changed (more or less). I remember when I first started working, I came in a day before to ask advice for my first day. I wasn’t scared (maybe a little) before starting the job but Liz (my previous manager) was a great support and supported me through my first day (and every other day after that).
26 October 2014 - 3:42 pm Back at USE!
Hi everyone, I’m back as a USE intern for a second year YAY. Another year filled with projects, blogs and, above all, enterprise. This year I have a new intern role – a role which hasn’t been available before. I am now the schools intern, quite apt if you consider last year I was the embedded enterprise intern – I have another role which involves education and learning. I can’t wait to get started. 23 May 2014 - 12:30 pm Venture in East Asia | Conclusion
Venture in East Asia happened over two weeks ago but people still come up to me and tell me they enjoyed it very much. Quite a success, I’d say.
In the end, we heard talks from four guest speakers: Dr Zhang from the School of East Asian Studies, Joanna Lavan from Connect China, Gregory Sutch from Intralink who was accompanied by Hannah Jackson from Intralink as well, and Chenglu Li, our International Students Enterprise Intern. 20 March 2014 - 11:53 am Double (Or Even Triple) Feel-Good Effect
Is your office or dorm room dull? Or perhaps you are looking for a finishing touch that will liven up the décor? Or maybe you are searching for a great cause for donation because there is no better why to instantly lift your spirits? Perhaps you might be looking for a great gift for your parents and relatives (Mother’s Day is this Sunday, 30th March)?
Why not combine all of these into one?
In collaboration with RAG and Bummit I’m organising Charity Art Auction 2014 that is the first and one-time only opportunity to purchase original artwork in support of Sheffield charities. Continue reading “Double (Or Even Triple) Feel-Good Effect” »
9 June 2013 - 10:12 am Goodbye USE

1 May 2013 - 10:45 am Let’s Get Crafty and USEme
So. It happened. The USE intern mega event actually happened. From our crazy initial idea storm during the staff training day last June – where the only thing we were completely adamant about having was a bouncy castle, and we were determined to call the event ‘Festiprise’ – to almost a year later, we’ve been planning and moulding our millions of ideas into something that’d really work.
On Wednesday the 17th of April we made our ideas happen. To be fair, at USE, that is kind of our speciality.
28 April 2013 - 10:58 am Let’s Get Ready to Jumble and USEme
I recently wrote a blog recruiting for the upcoming event I am organising/running – Let’s Get Ready to Jumble. Now the event has been and gone over I thought I’d blog to give a little insight into my idea for the event and my passion behind it. Continue reading “Let’s Get Ready to Jumble and USEme” »
29 March 2013 - 10:26 am Everything starts with an idea
I am one of those people who love having a good old chinwag about how to set the world to rights. I simply cannot keep my mouth shut when I hear people say simple minded things that are practically regurgitated from a newspaper title. You know what I mean, those old chestnuts like ‘why should they get benefits when I work and pay tax’ – guess they don’t know they’re also paying for the royal family then, huh. Regardless of what people’s opinions are, I think we can all agree that there are things in this world that, if we could, we would change.
