8 December 2012 - 11:24 am See, students can be enterprising

What an amazing day we had at our Enterprise Christmas Market Fair. Every second of the day was packed with fun, creativity and, Christmas songs (which I have to admit got a bit annoying towards the end of the day – bah humbug). Everyone had a smile on their face as they came in to buy Christmas presents for their loved ones, but went away with goodies for themselves. The atmosphere was absolutely buzzing, and for me it just confirmed that Christmas really is here. Continue reading “See, students can be enterprising” »

18 October 2012 - 10:01 am Building skills through Skill Build

Last semester I delivered the ‘What is Enterprise’ Skill Build session with my sister and fellow Enterprise Intern India, after I redesigned the presentation.  This year, however, India is no longer an Enterprise Intern (sob) so I was asked to go it alone, and deliver the session all by myself.  To keep things fresh I decided to update and revamp the presentation again.  Plus I needed to refresh my memory on delivering the sections that India had covered in our previous session.

10 September 2012 - 10:43 am Erm… so where did summer go?

Don’t worry. This is in no way a rant about the British weather in Summer (although it is pretty appalling). This is a welcome to our eight new student interns as today is their first day of intern training at University of Sheffield Enterprise. After a morning of  press-ups, sit-ups and circuits… just kidding.  Continue reading “Erm… so where did summer go?” »

23 December 2011 - 3:23 pm The Christmas Market 2011: All wrapped up

After weeks of planning and a smidgen of stress, the morning of the Enterprise Christmas Market finally came on the 13th of December, and it was an early one! After donning our little miss Santa costumes (PG appropriate of course!) we headed down to uni at 7:30am, ready to put up lots of posters on lampposts around the University, hoping it might be the extra push we needed to get the punters through the door. Then it was down to the Zone to pick up our box of tricks, which included eight boxes of mince pies, flyers, posters, sign up sheets and of course decorations to make the Foundry look festive. 7 December 2011 - 12:27 pm Starting your creative business – International Craft Fair 2011

This isn’t the first time I have written about creative enterprise; nor, more than likely, will it be the last. In fact, it seems to have become a little bit of an obsession.

Never mind. There’s nothing wrong with a bit of enthusiasm. Continue reading “Starting your creative business – International Craft Fair 2011” »

4 December 2011 - 12:20 pm Big profits, business tips and… turtle door-stops? Welcome to the USE International Craft Fair 2011

On Thursday the 17th of November, bright and early, the fruits of my seven weeks of labours were finally reaped and the USE International Craft Fair took place. Despite a fraught two hour sleep caused by the pressure of essay deadlines, I soldiered onwards, and at the painful hour of 7:45am tumbled blearily down to the Octagon to kick things off.

3 December 2011 - 12:04 pm Looking back on the first Enterprise Social

On the 8th of November, we have organised our first EVER USE Enterprise Social. Taking place in the Raynor Lounge, next to Bar One, somebody had to be there before the Social was meant to start. That person happened to be me, and I really didn’t know what to expect.
