What do a pirate themed children’s bookshop, a restaurant (actually two), Russell Brand’s café, a digital media company and an online radio station have in common? This is a slight trick question as there are two answers: one, they are all social enterprises; and secondly, they were all stops on a recent social enterprise networking/inspirational day out to London organised by the Enterprise Zone.

I have recently been involved in one of the most interesting projects conducted by my university which focuses on the valuable contribution international students have to the economy and life of Sheffield city.

On the 4th of March, a very valuable piece of research was presented to MPs in Westminster to show the £120 million benefit that international students bring to the Sheffield economy (Oxford Economics Report – The Economic Costs and Benefots of International Students).
