10 November 2015 - 11:12 am New beginnings and a ray of never giving up

Hey everyone, my name is Baiju, a very excited intern at the USE who is a bit of an adrenaline junkie. I’ll tell you a little bit about myself, but not sure where to start…

I come from Kenya, which has some of the most beautiful scenery, still trying to find something to top the Great Rift Valley and the sun setting in the horizon, watching the zebra graze the last few blades in the dark as the last golden rays hit their backs, it is bliss! I left Kenya to come to the University of Sheffield, to study Economics, as I have a passion for development and trying to bridge the gap of inequality.

30 July 2015 - 12:13 pm Maximus Decimus Meridius’ 5 Steps to Success

Welcome, readers, to my first ever blog post! I hope it isn’t completely awful. I must warn you, though – it is a little strange.

For anyone who has ever watched Gladiator (if you haven’t, please go and watch it right now!), you’re probably wondering why the heck its main character is the subject of my enterprise-related blog? 16 January 2015 - 3:59 pm My first ever lecture

Hi people! Hope you all had a nice break before you came back to work to prepare for exams (I feel your pain). Hope you found my last blog helpful and got motivated to make few applications.

You’ll never guess what? Skill Build for spring semester starts soon in Feb and the first one is on 12th. The good news is that I’ll be doing the whole lecture (don’t let this to put you off though). Public speaking is daunting, especially if the language you’ll be delivering in isn’t your first language and you haven’t done that previously. It’s great to have public speaking skills as it shows employers and other people how many skills you possess; e.g., communication, listening, confidence etc. I’ll talk you through how I brought myself up to a level where I can deliver a presentation.
