17 March 2015 - 10:10 am Grab your bucket and run into a beach full of opportunities
At the time of writing this, I am about to leave USE to go onto maternity leave. But as well as spending loads of time with my new born, I have been thinking about making the most of my year by making a bucket list of all the things that I have been wanting to do for ages but because of working full time or just not getting round to it, it just hasn’t happened. 17 February 2015 - 4:50 pm E is for….
If it isn’t one E word (enterprise) that I go on about, it is another one, employability.
We all know that the graduate market is highly competitive and you need to be able to stand out from the crowd. The way I like to describe this is by thinking of a cake: your degree is a great solid base that has got the essential knowledge that you need to do the job (or in a cake sense, you need the sponge to be a cake) but it is the things that you do on top of your degree that makes you more attractive to employers (and for me, the sprinkles, toppings and anything else you can fit on the cake makes it sooo much more attractive). Continue reading “E is for….” »

16 November 2014 - 1:22 pm Who wants to be an Entrepreneur?
This is a question that we seem to ask quite a bit here at USE. However, in an up and coming event you will be able to ask a group of people who have been there and done that, why they became an entrepreneur. What are the advantages and disadvantages of working for yourself and my favourite question- what they think is their biggest achievement? Continue reading “Who wants to be an Entrepreneur?” »

Continue reading “Enactus Sheffield: Most Inspirational in the World!” »
8 November 2014 - 2:04 pm Cupcakes to enterprise
During my recent blog training at USE we were presented with three pictures: Dracula, a cupcake with candle in it, and a group shot of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ cast.
We were asked to talk about how each of these related to enterprise. Initially I was like, “what? I have no idea.” But the more I thought of it, the more ideas started flooding in. Continue reading “Cupcakes to enterprise” »
6 November 2014 - 5:17 pm Want a pizza the action?
If there is a food that shouts enterprise, it must be pizza. Why you ask? Well, you can develop a good base of skills, have a multitude of toppings (allowing you to develop your creativity ), and it is very shareable (so you can develop your communication and people skills) . Continue reading “Want a pizza the action?” »
4 November 2014 - 2:29 pm USE Christmas Market… Will there be a reindeer!?
So it’s that time of the year again, when shops fill up with Christmas trees, tiny Santas and fairy-lights galore, and everyone is starting to get excited about Christmas! It is also the time when, at USE, we are getting ready for our very own, annual Christmas Market! This event is a great opportunity for all enterprising and creative students/societies, who are ready to let the world know about what they do.
29 October 2014 - 3:24 pm Did I HEAR this right? A quick ‘heads-up’ on HEARable activities at USE
It’s this time of the year again, when new students arrive at Sheffield. They’re full of freshers flu and excitement (and they are spreading both in all directions!). Are you one of those students? Or maybe you’ve been in Sheffield for a while, but just don’t know what to get involved in? If either of these apply to you, then read on, as there are many things that your new/old uni has to offer.
