29 April 2014 - 10:21 am Well done to BiG Challenge winners ‘Aroma Blossom’

Every year, school children all over Sheffield take part in something really BiG. The BiG Challenge is competition where pupils set up their own mini businesses and the best business of the year wins a trip of a life time. Continue reading “Well done to BiG Challenge winners ‘Aroma Blossom’” »

21 August 2013 - 10:34 am Sing!

I thought I would tell you all a little bit about what I was getting up to before I started my internship at USE! (It involves a lot of singing….)

As a music student I’m quite interested in spreading the joy by sharing music with the world, my favourite way to do that is by teaching! I currently teach a few students piano and violin, but when an internship based at Sheffield Cathedral’s Sing! project came up I jumped at the chance! Thankfully I got the job and had the privilege of working alongside some very exciting and talented people.

20 May 2013 - 10:21 am Taste of Work Plus

Taste of Work Plus lasts around one month. I consider this project is a short-term internship. Before starting the internship, I was so glad to receive a ring from Jobshop Coordinator Ailsa Costello and a pre-session arranged by my USE supervisor Ms. Liz Taylor (information officer). Giving more details in advance shows Taste of Work Plus in USE has been well-organised. Continue reading “Taste of Work Plus” »

28 April 2013 - 10:58 am Let’s Get Ready to Jumble and USEme

I recently wrote a blog recruiting for the upcoming event I am organising/running – Let’s Get Ready to Jumble.  Now the event has been and gone over I thought I’d blog to give a little insight into my idea for the event and my passion behind it. 5 April 2013 - 11:38 am Fancy being a Marketeer?

I always love watching the market stall task on The Apprentice. Watching the candidates’ cheesy sales tactics, and seeing them actually work. And who could forget the most notable marketeer of all Adam Corbally, whose banter on the show made us cry with laughter and cringe with embarrassment. When it came to the market stall task he put all the other candidates to shame, and showed us all that, with the right skills, you can sell almost anything.

4 April 2013 - 10:18 am Be a pampered guinea pig!

I don’t know about you, but I rarely say no to a good old pamper session.  I love to be pampered, whether the pampering involves a massage, a hair cut, a manicure, or some good old fashioned body piercing.  However, my love of pampering is in direct conflict with my love of my poor little bank account!  But what if I told you that there’s a way to be pampered for free, or for a maximum of cost price?  Well there is – become a salon guinea pig…

9 March 2013 - 12:13 pm Let’s get ready to jumble!

As part of the Vice Chancellor’s Celebration of Enterprise us USE Interns are organising an enterprise event on Wednesday 17th April.  As part of our Intern event I am organising a student run jumble sale – Let’s Get Ready to Jumble!

10 February 2013 - 11:41 am London vs Sheffield

Recently I travelled back and forth between Sheffield and London quite a lot. If it wasn’t for the various assessment centres I’ve had to attend for my graduate job, I visited some great friends who live down there. The whole travelling reminded me just how different two places can be, albeit in the same country and separated merely by a two-hour train journey.

4 February 2013 - 3:58 pm Shall I be a graduate entrepreneur?

Recently, there has been a massive hype around entrepreneurs and I got quite enthusiastic, too. With youth unemployment being higher than ever, it’s understandable that entrepreneurship is promoted everywhere and talented students are encouraged to start up straight after university.

17 January 2013 - 10:10 am If you can do a year abroad, do it!

So it’s not everyday you can say you spent Christmas day skiing in Canada and eating a Chinese takeaway. It definitely wasn’t a traditional Christmas and it was my first away from home (with my boyfriend and his family) but those three weeks will definitely be something I remember for a very long time.
